My very first commercial campaign was the first time I had ever directed live action! Wow, it was a surreal project and dream come true to be invited to launch such an essential creator space on Facebook. We The Culture is a community space on Facebook and Instagram dedicated to showcasing and supporting Black creators. I had such a strong connection to this topic and initiative, and I believe that connection and my vision for it is what landed me this job, although it was my first live film project. It was shot completely remote during the pandemic, with a lean but far reaching ground crew in 4 different cities over the course of 5 consecutive days. It was intense! I never thought I’d be directing a crew over zoom in my living room, but I’m so grateful for all the love and energy the entire team put into this project.
